Failed the MPU: What Now? Your Path to a Positive Result

You did not pass the MPU? That is no reason to give up. Approximately 50% of all participants do not pass on their first attempt.

Why do people fail the MPU?

The most common reasons for a negative report:

  • Lack of honesty: Downplaying your own behaviour or consumption.
  • Memorised answers: Assessors immediately recognise whether reflection is genuine or rehearsed.
  • No behavioural change: Insight alone is not enough – you must demonstrate actual changes.
  • Inadequate preparation: Preparation with unqualified providers or no preparation at all.

What to do after a negative report

  1. Read the report carefully: The negative report explains the deficiencies in detail.
  2. Professional review: Have the report analysed by a qualified traffic psychologist. We offer this service at NEUSTART.
  3. Targeted preparation: Address the specific points identified in the report.
  4. Do not reapply immediately: Take the time to genuinely address the deficiencies.

Häufige Fragen

Does the licensing authority learn about my negative report?
No, not automatically. The report is delivered to you personally. You decide whether to submit it.
How soon can I retake the MPU?
There is no legal waiting period. However, we recommend at least 3 to 6 months for thorough re-preparation.
Can I go to a different assessment centre?
Yes, you may choose the centre freely. The new centre does not automatically learn of the previous result.
